Community Connections’ relationship with the xl clubs has now grown to include international activity. An activist recently accompanied six young people with behavioural problems on an international charity challenge to Jaipur, India, working with disabled children, funded by the BUPA Giving initiative (£10k). One student said: “This trip has made me think about the way I act at home. I am going to appreciate my mum much more.”
The partnership has proved extremely successful with the schools involved. Lynda Harris, Feltham Community College said: “We have been extremely fortunate by having not only the financial support of BUPA, but also the hands on experience of staff. This has enabled the students to take part in activities they would not have done before and given them a sense of self worth.”
