Today we worked REALLY hard. Mainly lifting and carrying. we moved literally a ton of bricks (maybe two ton..? it felt like it!)
There is plenty of spirit and positive energy at the site though, so the work doesn’t feel quite as hard as it really is. We have our stereo to keep us going. And the thought of how buff we’re gonna be by the end of the week after all this heavy lifting. I even had enough energy to play a little football with the construction guys at lunchtime. Phew – running is really hard at this altitude though!
The bricks are being recycled so we need to scrape all the old cement off them before they can be used. They also need to be really wet before the guys can build with them – the construction manager told us we should dunk them in this huge muddy puddle he’d created once they’d been scraped clean of cement. I took on this role - cue much comedy mud splashing when I let the bricks fall a little too heavily. I got some evil looks from those sitting closest but I definately came off worst with mud all over my face, chest overalls and gloves.
I can honestly say I have never been so dirty – not even after last year’s Bestival mudfest!!
- I’m still not sure if it was really necessary to dunk all those bricks in the mud, I have a feeling I was just the butt of very dirty joke.
