We came, we saw, we sanded

Day two and the work has begun in earnest.

David and I spend the day sanding, sanding and sanding. After breaking one of the sanders we still carried on and sanded the mainstays for the central portico in the health centre. See the photo of Dave sanding (since he’s a maintenance man with care homes, he knows what he’s doing so I just stayed close to him). Another photo is me sanding getting helpful instruction from V (from Aus) who is just as mad as me.

Meanwhile all the others were getting the floor tiles grouted, walls brushed down ready for plastering, tiles laid and lots of tidying up.

Claire A continues to be the rah rah champion encouraging us on to greater efforts and making sure we get to where we should be – the photo shows she also got down and dirty with the floor tiling too.

Lunch was fab. An odd combination of Chicken, beetroot, avocado and potato patties – but it worked – really tasty.

The final photo is Robin who is a cute kid at the school who is full of enthusiasm and generally full of chocolate whenever he can!

We will all be aching tonight – no doubt about it.

There’s lots still to do but we made great progress today – lots to do tomorrow

Hi all had a long and tedious trip 19 hours traveling and some of the volunteers even longer but we all arrived safely. as you can see from yesterday Blog photo´s you all think that we are on holiday, this is due to BUPA´s wisdom and making us all to acclimatize, we all argued and said we wanted to work but was over ruled. up early today Tuesday and went straight to work myself and Mark have been sanding down wooden posts in preparation for varnishing see attached photo sitting here with a nice cold beer aching all over and can hardly raise my arm to type and more of the same tomorrow, if I am still alive.
